CLR Trigger Error: Could not find Type xxxx in Assembly

I've got the following code (C# code) but when I execute the Create Trigger
statement I get the error
"Could not find Type 'InheritanceTriggers' in assembly 'CLRTriggers'
I believe I'm satisfying all the rules: the class is public, the method is
public, and the method is static.
Anythoughts?

You need to include your namespace:
Create Trigger EnforceInheritanceTrigger on [Person]
For INSERT as External Name
CLRTriggers.[My.SQLServer.InheritanceTriggers].EnforceBaseObject
Steven|||Unfortunately, that still didn't help:
Could not find Type 'My.SQLServer.InheritanceTriggers' in assembly
'CLRTriggers'.
but thanks for the suggestion...at least it gave me something new to try. :

CLR integration - Could not find Type '?' in assembly '?'.

Hi,

I'm new to Integration services and .Net programming but am trying to
create a dll that I can access from Sql server 2005.

The dll read's an xml file and carries out some processing. I've run
the code as an console app and it works fine.

I have created the assembly in sqlserver thus:

create assembly PinCodeLoader from
'C:\PinCodeLoader\PinCodeLoader\PinCodeLoader\bin\Debug\PinCodeLoader.dll'
with permission_set = external_access

But when I try to reference the assembly from a stored proc

create procedure dbo.interface_processPinCodefile(@.filename
nvarchar(1024))
as EXTERNAL name PinCodeLoader.PinCodeloader.Main

I get the following error:

Msg 6505, Level 16, State 1, Procedure interface_processPinCodefile,
Line 3
Could not find Type 'PinCodeloader' in assembly 'PinCodeLoader'.

I understand the context of the syntax should be
assembly_name.class_name.method_name. The first lines of the code in
the DLL are as follows

namespace PinCodeLoader
{
class PinCodeLoader
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{

Therefore assembly = PinCodeLoader, class_name = PinCodeLoader and
method_name = Main. Which should equal
EXTERNAL name PinCodeLoader.PinCodeloader.Main, I thought.

Has anybody come across this or can they offer any assistance?

Many thanks,

Paul

Hi, try to compile the .vb file with this command line:

csc.exe /t:library PinCodeLoader.bv (Put the correct name of the .vb file)

If this work look at the properties of the project and search for 'root namespace' (or something similar), and delete it, then try again compiling the entire solution from de IDE...

Good luck

Alejandro F.

|||

You need to include the namespace as well:

create procedure dbo.interface_processPinCodefile(@.filename
nvarchar(1024))
as EXTERNAL name PinCodeLoader.[PinCodeLoader.PinCodeloader].Main

However, you still won't be able to create your proc because SQL can't map nvarchar(1024) to the string array args.

|||

Thanks for your replies guys. I didn't actually try that method but found a way around it.

In my c# program I removed the reference to a namespace, as I was told it's not really necessary and changed the code as follows.

public class PinCodeLoad

{

public static void Main(string filename,string datasource,Int32 timeout, string companyname)

{

So instead of using the args parameter I'm implictly defining them. Plus I preceded my class and method with public

I kept the stored proc as before.

I hope that helps anybody else.

CLR Assembly redeploy problem.

I have created a C# library containing CLR stored procedures and user-
define functions using Visual Studio 2005, and I have used Visual
Studio to deploy the assembly to a SQL Server 2005 instance
successfully, of course these sps and udfs are used by other T-SQL sps
and udfs. Now the assembly has a new version, and I want to use it to
replace the original one, but when I use Visual Studio 2005 to deploy
the new assembly, the following error occurs:

Error1Cannot drop the function 'TranslationStringLike', because it
does not exist or you do not have permission.
Cannot drop the function 'TranslateEngString', because it does not
exist or you do not have permission.
Cannot drop the function 'TranslateEngStringReverse', because it does
not exist or you do not have permission.
DROP ASSEMBLY failed because 'FirmBankCLR' is referenced by object
'TranslationStringLike'.FirmBankCLR

That is the assembly is dependent by other objects, it can't be
dropped until it is not dependent by other objects. How can I resolve
this problem using Visual Studio 2005 or something else?Amber (guxiaobo1982@.gmail.com) writes:

As long as the interface of the assembly does not change, you can just
do ALTER ASSEMBLY. Either specify directly, which is simple if the DLL
is accessible from SQL Server. Or specify the DLL as a hexstring directly
in the ALTER ASSEMBLY statement.

If the interface has changed, you will need to drop all functions
created from it, as well as dependent assemblies.

I learnt just the other day that ALTER ASSEMBLY is not in the repetoir
of Visual Studio. I don't use Visual Studio to work with assemblies
but stick to the command line. And all impression I get is that
using Visual Studio just makes things harder.

It seems Microsoft hasn't done the job well, but if we have a lot of
objects in the assembly, the manual process of dropping and creating
them is horrible.|||Amber (guxiaobo1982@.gmail.com) writes:

Yes, it's horrible if you have to do it each time you change the
implementation of some single method, and it's amazing that VS cannot
handle this situation.

If you change the interface, it's still a lot of work of course of dropping
and recreating objects. But it is or more less inevitable.

I don't know what's in your assemblies, but I woudl suggest that if you
have a suite of functions and procedures that are independent of each other,
that it's best to have a separate assembly for each function/procedure. Of
course, if they use a lot of common code, you still need to put that common
code in a single assembly in which case you are back to the same situation.

ClickOnce Please Help

When having someone run my click once app that is using SQL CE they are getting this message.

The application requires that assembly System.Data.SqlServerCE Version 9.0.242.0 be installed in the global assembly cache (GAC) first

Can someone please let me know what I need to add to prerequisites?

Update on my issue. I have downloaded the development toolkit for CE and have set CE as a prerequisit. I ran click once and then published the application and downloaded it on a machine that does not have click once. The application installed and started. I went to do something that I know uses CE and I get this message Unable to load DLL sqlceme30.DLL.

Clearing Assembly cache

I have several reports that worked pre-sp1. Now I receive Reporting errors
such as Data is Null, etc. I believe it may have to do with the cached
copies of the old assemblies based on the searching I have done throughout
this newsgroup. I even re-installed Report Services and didn't apply the
patch and the reports worked fine again. I require the hidden parameter
functionality of SP1.
Can someone please explain to me how to clear old assemblies?
ShawnTo clear your private assembly cache, delete the folder C:\Documents and

I had the trial version of Report Services installed on my development
machine. I have account information with email addresses stored in SQL
Server 2000 SP3. I created a very basic report that consisted of a table
that displayed the account names and email addresses. Everything worked
fine in the design environment, Report Manager, and deployed it to my
asp.net application.
Due to some hidden parameter issues, I had to install RS SP1. The report
that required the fix worked great, however my Account Email does not work
anymore in the Report Manager or in my application. It does work in the
design environment though. Really strange. I have several reports with the
same issue.
I uninstalled Report Services completely and reinstalled without SP1 and
everything worked fine again. As soon as I installed SP1 the same issue
occurred. Please see the following error:

imgLogo. This expression should be enclosed in the First() aggregate as it
is outside the scope of any dataregion, e.g.
=First(Fields!LargeImageContentType.Value, "LogoData")
Also make sure that the value returned from the expression is a supported
MIME type and does not have leading or trailing blanks.
The message you received is due to a problem on our part. We found that you
get this exception whenever the MIMEType expression cannot be evaluated or
is a not valid MIME type. We'll look at fixing this in a future release.
